The Alberta’s Builders’ Lien Act has been amended and renamed the Prompt Payment and Construction Lien Act (the Act). The amended and renamed Act, came into force on August 29, 2022, introducing a number of major changes that actors in the construction sector should be aware of, including strict statutory payment deadlines, extended lien registration periods, and a new non-judicial dispute resolution process.

In this podcast, Leanne Krawchuk K.C., Alexis Barr-Gusa, Matt Feehan, and Aaron Aitken provide an in-depth analysis of how owners, contractors, and subcontractors should proceed to comply with the new requirements.
